We'd like to introduce you to our outstanding team of hair specialists.

Dr. Laurence (Larry) Warshawski, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Warshawski received his Medical Degree in 1975 from the
University of British Columbia, where he continued with training in
Anaesthesiology (1977), Internal Medicine (1978-79), and Dermatology
(1979-82). He interned at the University of Hawaii in 1976. Dr.
Warshawski completed a Fellowship in Cutaneous Surgery and Oncology
at the University of Miami in 1985.
Dr. Warshawski is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Canada, and is a Board Certified Dermatologic Surgeon,
certified in Canada and the United States. In 1986 he co-founded the
clinic now known as The Hair Transplant Centre. He is the Director
and Co-Director of the Mohs Fellowship at the Department of
Dermatology, UBC, from 1990 to date, involved in training other
doctors. From 1993 to 1994, he was the President of the BC Section
of Dermatology. From 1993 to 1998, he was on the Board of Directors
of the Canadian Dermatology Association. From 1996 t0 2000, Dr.
Warshawski was an Examiner with the Royal College of Physicians &
Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Warshawski is also a Clinical Professor and Head of
Dermatologic Surgery at the University of British Columbia’s Skin
Care Surgery Centre, from 2000 to date. From 2004 onwards, he has
occupied the post of Residency Program Director, UBC Department of
Dermatology.
Dr. Warshawski has published numerous articles and chapters on
dermatologic issues and is a visiting international lecturer. His
practice is focused on hair transplant surgery, with a continued
interest in cutaneous surgery and oncology.

Dr. Jerry Shapiro, MD, FRCPC
Jerry Shapiro, MD has served as immediate past President of the North American Hair Research Society and Canadian Society for Investigational Dermatology. He is President of the Canadian Hair Research Foundation and presently is Clinical Professor in the Division of Dermatology at the University of British Columbia. He has lectured internationally in Asia, Europe, South America as well as all over the United States. He is a regular speaker at the American Academy of Dermatology and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. He runs one of the busiest university-based hair clinics in the world.
Dr. Shapiro does both clinical and basic science hair research and is known internationally for his scientific publications, book chapters and textbooks related to hair. He is regularly sought after to appear on television and radio. His many publications include the definitive textbook Hair Loss: Principles of Diagnosis & Management of Alopecia (2002). He is listed in the Canadian Who's Who as well as Best Doctors of America. Dr. Shapiro started the first hair fellowship in the world.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from McGill University, Dr. Shapiro specialized in Dermatology at the University of British Columbia. In 1985, he was awarded certified diplomate status by the American Board of Dermatology, as well as specialty status in Dermatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Canada.

Dr. David M. Zloty, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Zloty graduated from the University of Alberta in 1989 with first class honours in Medicine. He interned at Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton in 1990, and studied internal medicine at University of Calgary Hospitals, in 1991. He completed a Dermatology Residency at the University of British Columbia from 1991 to 1994. In 1995, he completed a fellowship in Advanced Cutaneous Surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. He completed additional cosmetic surgery training in San Francisco and Denver.
Dr. Zloty is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. He is a Board Certified Dermatologic Surgeon, certified in Canada and the United States and holds memberships in both American and Canadian Societies for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Zloty is the Medical Director of the Dermatologic Surgery Centre at Vancouver General Hospital and the Director, Mohs Fellowship Training program at the Department of Dermatology, UBC. He is also the Director of Surgical Education in the Department of Dermatology and a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC.
Dr. Zloty has been performing hair transplantation and cutaneous cosmetic surgery since 1995. He was President of the Dermatology Society of British Columbia from 1997-2004. He is currently President of the Canadian Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He has made many presentations nationally and internationally and has published numerous articles in both the United States and Canada . Dr. Zloty appears on local and national TV, radio, and in newspapers, and lectures frequently to different physician groups on the advances in hair transplantation.
Luciana, Team Manager
Like all members of our team, Luciana epitomizes the caring and compassionate approach at the Hair Transplant Centre. She has been with the clinic since 1982 and brings over 20 years experience in hair transplantation and restoration to her role as supervisor to the team of nurses and technicians. Her nursing education was in Victoria, BC and she is a member of the Hair Restoration Society. Luciana trains other nurses in hair restoration techniques and tasks, and has taught overseas. Her dedication to each patient’s comfort contributes greatly to the friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the Hair Transplant Centre.

Linda Miles, Business Manager and Patient Consultant
Linda Miles is the first person you will talk to at the Hair Transplant Centre. Since 2000, Linda has brought a wealth of experience counselling people and managing the administrative side of HTC. Born in England, Vancouver has been Linda’s home for over 25 years. Her personal motto is business with a heart, as exemplified by her dedication to each and every patient. She is inspired by helping people and helping to change their lives. |
